Oh, to be a Lions fan in 2008! I would get to see my favorite team lose EVERY game...yes...EVERY game! I would get to see my favorite team trade away one of its best players to one of the "best" teams in the league for, hopefully, future "great" players. I would get to see my favorite team desperately try to salvage their season by resurrecting the past in a broken down quarterback. I would get to see my favorite team's players watch and participate each week, knowing history - the not-so-good kind of history - was in the making.
BUT - I would get to watch my favorite team TRY and NEVER give up!
Instead, I'm not a Lion's fan (though after this season I might convert.) I'm a Cowboys fan and I am sick.
This year, I got to watch my favorite team erode like the coastlines around the world. I got to watch my favorite team succeed at reaching to the depths of their pre-season high expectations. I got to watch my favorite team take the field each week ready to play against local high school teams rather than professional organizations. I got to watch my favorite team show up to games so unprepared that even the trainers looked lost on the sidelines. I got to watch my favorite "superstars" use all of their talent for the betterment of themselves so that the "regular" players could play hard without them.
I got to watch my favorite team become the most disgusting, disgraceful, and disappointing teams in the history of the NFL.
Oh, to be a Lions fan! At least I could have something to look forward to next season. I know they're going to be better. They may even be the new Miami. But my Cowboys? All I know is regardless of their talent, the expectations, and the words that come out of all their mouths (from the top down), I can't trust them. I won't be able to believe them.
And right now...I don't care! Go Lions, 2009!

While not a cowboys fan by any stretch of the imagination, you so need to send your astute analysis to that bunch.
Your predicament is why I have always been a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Convert, my friend, and let the healing begin.
Where you been, buddy? Busy with family and friends, no doubt. Stop in and comment on my latest post. I think you will love it.
