Texas House District 3 Candidate Cain Rounds Up Endorsements

(Hopkins County, TX) - In a development which demonstrates that Republicans are uniting behind Erwin Cain, the Cain campaign today announced the endorsement of 46 key Republican leaders including current and former GOP County Chairs, Elected Officials, SREC members, current and former Precinct Chairs, and grassroots leaders in House District 3 (see list at end of release). Additionally, Cain has secured the endorsement of former GOP nominee Kirby Hollingsworth of Mt. Vernon, who has written a personal letter to all primary voters announcing his support of Cain.

Titus County Chair Sue Evenwel of Mt. Pleasant said, “I believe Erwin Cain is running as a true patriot to benefit his constituents and this district, rather than build his own personal prestige or fortunes. His strong conservative core values will be the filter he uses to make good decisions for the people in District 3.”

Red River County Republican Chairman Shawn Tully said, “The reason I endorse Mr. Erwin Cain is that he is a proven conservative, has been in the Republican grass roots efforts for years, and is a proven true Republican. Mr. Cain honors God first, then his family, and it is my opinion that he will be a true servant of the people of House District 3.”

Pam Derr, Former President of the Republican Women of Delta County, added her support, saying, “I take pleasure in endorsing Erwin Cain. He is a defender of our Republican platform, which we hold dear. He is a warrior of what is right and true and in this hour he is needed in Austin.”

In announcing his support, Kirby Hollingsworth said, "In a primary, it’s important to vet our candidates to ensure they will be consistent in their voting and not be swayed by ‘special interests.’ With Erwin Cain we don’t have to guess because he has a record of fighting for our beliefs.”

SREC District 2 Committeeman John Cook stated, “Erwin Cain has proven to be an energizer for the Republican Party in Hopkins County. In District 3 there is no better organizer, no better candidate, no better man to replace the incumbent representative there.”

In accepting the endorsements, Cain said, “I’m honored and humbled that these leaders are uniting behind my candidacy. They know that my conservative compass is true, and I will fight for our principles in Austin. It’s great to see the momentum building in our grass roots campaign.”

These announcements follow those from two key conservative groups who have chosen to endorse Cain as the true conservative in the March 2 Republican primary: Empower Texans PAC, the political arm of Texans for Fiscal Responsibility, and the Young Conservatives of Texas.

Cain, 49, is the former Chairman of the Hopkins County Republican Party, which has experienced strong growth in the past several years. Cain has also worked to promote conservative principles across East Texas by launching and chairing the Northeast Texas GOP Chairmen’s Coalition. The group is comprised of Republican leaders in eight counties across the region, including five of the six counties in HD 3.

A small businessman and attorney, Cain owns a real estate investment company in Hopkins County. Mr. Cain’s law practice extends throughout East and Northeast Texas, where he has built a practice representing those facing frivolous lawsuits.

Erwin and Hope Cain have been married for almost 21 years and reside in the rural community of Como, located just outside of Sulphur Springs. The couple has three children: Hunter (17), Averi (14), and Honour (11), all of whom attend public schools in the Como-Pickton CISD. The Cains are members of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, where Erwin is an adult Sunday School teacher.
